Preston County closing animal shelter until April 1

KINGWOOD, W.Va. -- Preston County is closing its animal shelter until April 1 to reorganize and to closer examine the finances after a dispute between its former director and the County Commission.President Craig Jennings tells WBOY there appears to be what he calls "a significant difference" between the number of reported adoptions and the money collected for them.He says the commissioners, their staff and other shelter employees have worked to keep the doors open and care for the animals for a month since Courtney Austin was fired for insubordination.
Austin had refused to comply with the commission's request to be given administrator access to the shelter's Facebook page.
Jennings says the commission has asked Austin and her lawyer for help securing documentation of the numbers in her January report.
