Charleston City Council of Beta Sigma Phi International Sorority will meet at 6:45 p.m. Thursday at the South Charleston Municipal Court Building. The board will meet at 7 p.m. for the general business meeting. President Anne Stone will conduct the business meeting. All officers and committee members are to attend. Guest chapter this month is Alpha Theta Master. Unity of Kanawha Valley will be home to the monthly Open Stage and Coffee House with guest host Mike Arcuri at 7:30 p.m. Friday at 804 Myrtle Road, corner of Bridge and Myrtle roads. Local musicians are welcome to come and share their talents in a friendly and enthusiastic atmosphere. The performers sign up at 7 p.m. and the music begins at 7:30 p.m. General admission is $5, and $2 for performers, seniors and children. Various coffees, teas, soft drinks and homemade treats are available at a small cost. Ron Sowell's Open Stage and Coffee House takes place on the second Friday of every month. 'Life's a Hike!'
Charleston Montessori School will sponsor a "Life's a Hike!" event Saturday at the Wallace Hartman Nature Preserve. The hike begins at 10:30 a.m. at the trailhead. The Wallace Hartman Nature Preserve is accessible from Adrian Drive off of South Ruffner Road in South Hills and from Hampton Road, also in South Hills. This is the first hike of the annual 10-hike spring series in and around Charleston.Trail Club hike
Kanawha Trail Club will sponsor a Sunday on Sunrise Carriage Trail. Meet at 1:30 p.m. to carpool from Ohio and Randolph streets. Regroup at trail top.
