Wheeling Jesuit names Fleming its tenth president

WHEELING, W.Va. -- Wheeling Jesuit University will have a new president on July 1.The school announced Thursday that the Rev. James J. Fleming has been appointed to fill the post.Current President Richard Beyer has decided not to seek a second term. He's held the job since 2010.Board of Trustees chairwoman Mimie Helm calls Fleming a dynamic and visionary leader with a keen knowledge of the university and Jesuit values. She says the board's choice was unanimous.Fleming is 53 and joined Wheeling Jesuit in 2010 as the institution's first vice president for mission and identity.He then became chief of staff and last year became executive vice president.
A native of Lowell, Mass., he'd spent the previous 10 years with Boston College.
