The Charleston Area Alliance and Frontier Communications will present the Small Business Showcase from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Charleston Marriott Town Center. The showcase is held in conjunction with Business After Hours and will feature Secretary of Commerce Keith Burdette, who will kick off the event. Business After Hours offers opportunities to meet the region's leaders in a relaxed setting, all while enjoying food, drinks and entertainment. The cost is $15 for Alliance members and $25 for future members who register early online. Prices increase to $25 for Alliance members and $35 for future members after 5 p.m. March 27. The Fayette County Black Caucus is sponsoring its 36th annual Martin Luther King Memorial Luncheon at 2 p.m. April 27 at the Fayette Institute of Technology in Oak Hill. A check will be presented to an outstanding black high school senior. An annual $750 scholarship also will be presented to a black high school senior who is planning to further his/her education in teaching. Reservations are $25 and the deadline is April 19.
