Gazette, Daily Mail websites hacked
CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- A hacker outside the country injected malicious code into the Gazette website's advertising server Wednesday morning, leading to a disruption in service that lasted a few hours.
The Daily Mail's site -- dailymail.com -- also was affected.
By mid-morning, both sites were up and running again, and they are safe for reader traffic.
Because the problem stemmed from a breach of our advertising server, we have switched to an ad server that is maintained and operated by Google.
We regret any inconvenience this might have caused our readers.
