New owner plans to revive Fenton Art Glass
WILLIAMSTOWN, W.Va. -- Fenton Art Glass' new owner is looking to revive the West Virginia specialty glass maker.
Last month, the West Virginia Jobs Investment Trust provided $100,000 to The Fenton Group to help the company resume production.
State Commerce Secretary Keith Burdette tells the Parkersburg News and Sentinel that the funding will be used to revive Fenton's factory operations and refresh its marketing.
The Williamstown company's former owners, the Fenton family, stopped production of art glass in 2011. The company had struggled with rising costs and declining sales. The Fenton Group, doing business as US Glass Inc., acquired the company's assets last year.
US Glass CEO says the the company wants to revitalize the American glass art craft and re-introduce Fenton's legacy.
