McTeacher's Night fundraiserCHARLESTON, W.Va. -- The McDonald's restaurant at Crossings Plaza in Elkview will be hosting a McTeacher's Night fundraiser from 5 to 8 p.m. today<co Tuesday> to benefit Pinch Elementary School. A team of teachers and staff from Pinch Elementary will work in the restaurant during the event, with the assistance of McDonald's employees. A percentage of sales from the McTeacher's Night fundraiser will be donated to the school.Sissonville auto showThe Sissonville Lions Club will sponsor the 2013 Sissonville Spring Fever Car Show Saturday at the Sissonville Middle School near Pocatalico. Registration is open from 7:30 a.m. to noon with trophies to be awarded at 3 p.m. Approximately 100 entries are expected to compete for trophies including: Best of Show, Best Ford, Best GM, Best Mopar, Best Import, Best Paint Finish, Best Interior and Best Motorcycle. Admission is free for spectators. Registration fee is $10 for those showing autos with the first 50 receiving dash plaques. There will be music, food, car displays and more. Rain date is April 20. Vendor booths are also available. Meet at 9:30 a.m. to carpool from Ohio and Randolph streets. The hike is approximately eight miles and is considered a moderate hike along a ridge that overlooks the lake. There are several hilly sections. Bring a lunch.
History of chocolateThe Greenbrier Historical Society at 301 West Washington Street in Lewisburg will host its "History of Chocolate" exhibit from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday as part of the Seventh Annual Chocolate Festival in Lewisburg. Stop by the North House throughout the day to learn about the history of chocolate and how it is made from Cacao trees. The North House is also an official tasting location with <co >chocolate-chocolate chip banana bread by the West Virginia Department of Agriculture and Hidden Springs Farm. The Greenbrier Historical Society is open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. or by appointment.
