Several cities break temperature records

CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- Several West Virginia cities broke temperature records Wednesday.The National Weather Service reports record high temperatures in Beckley, Elkins, Parkersburg, Martinsburg, Wheeling and Morgantown.In Martinsburg, the temperature reached 90 degrees. That topped 80 degrees in 1955.Wheeling's high was 83 degrees. The previous record was 76 degrees set in 2005.The other cities broke records that were set in 2011.
The high in Beckley was 83 degrees. The previous record was 81.Elkins' high was 84, breaking the previous record of 83.In Parkersburg, the temperature reached 86 degrees. The previous record was 85.Morgantown's high was 86. That broke the previous record of 83.
