Bike group seeks cellphones to aid needy
CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- Organizers of the charitable group Meals of Honor are asking local businesses, organizations, hotels, religious organizations and others to collect old cellphones to raise money to help feed disabled and homeless veterans.
Meals of Honor is teaming up with the annual Run for the Wall motorcycle tour to collect cellphones along the motorcycle route between Los Angeles and Washington, D.C. scheduled from May 15-24.
Meals of Honor will collect cellphones at stops along the scheduled route. About 950,000 riders are expected to take part in the ride, which ends at the Vietnam Memorial Wall in Washington.
Riders are expected to stop in Hurricane on May 22 and pass through Charleston and Rainelle before stopping in Lewisburg for the night on May 23.
