CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- The East End Bazaar, the open-air artisan market at the corner of Ruffner Avenue and Washington Street, will open for the season Saturday.From 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. every Saturday through October, a dozen or more vendors will offer a variety of fine art, handcrafted items and food.In addition, area groups will perform live acoustic music at the market's center stage each week, leading off this week with The Carpenter Ants.Vendors this week include Providence Handmade, Le Junque, Thaibilly Kitchen, Charly Jupiter Hamilton, 10% Pottery, Caribbean Kitchen, The Eco-Beader, ChrizArt, Fish Hawk Acres, Mission Savvy/Organic To-Go, Emerald Dragonfly Designs, Kelly Bryant, Studio Lilybean, Scream! Ice Cream, Christie Craddock and Pampered Paws Bakery.

There, would-be vendors can also check out market policies and fill out an online application form.The bazaar opened last September for a brief two-month run following about a year of planning by East End Main Street volunteers and staff. Volunteers, led by construction manager Shawn Means, logged more than 1,400 hours building the market last summer and maintaining it.The project is managed by Ned Savage, an AmeriCorps VISTA volunteer working with East End Main Street.Free parking is available nearby in the RCCR and WV Health Right parking lots during operating hours.
