Hurricane man found not guilty of sex abuse charges
HURRICANE, W.Va. -- Prosecutors say a jury found a Hurricane man not guilty of first-degree sexual abuse Wednesday in Putnam County Circuit Court.
The jury deliberated for more than five hours and also found Roger G. Doneff II, 37, not guilty of sexual abuse by a guardian, custodian or person in a position of trust. He was also found not guilty of use of obscene material with the intent to seduce a minor.
The girl, now 12, testified during the three-day trial, which began Monday in Winfield. She told police in 2011 that Doneff started abusing her when she was 6, according to court documents.
Doneff's charges stemmed from a juvenile abuse and neglect case and were sent to a grand jury without a preliminary hearing, according to court documents.
