'Hair for the Herd' to benefit Locks of Love
HUNTINGTON, W.Va. -- WMUL-FM and The Huntington School of Beauty Culture will team up for the sixth annual "Hair from the Herd" to benefit Locks of Love. The event will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. today on Marshall University's Memorial Student Center Plaza.
"Hair from the Herd" will collect both hair and monetary donations to benefit Locks of Love. The donations will help produce real hairpieces for financially disadvantaged children, under the age of 21, in the U.S. and Canada, suffering from long-term medical hair loss.
Donated hair must be at least 10 inches long, clean and dry. Bleached hair cannot be used, but dyed or permed hair is usable if the dye is darker than natural hair
Six inches or more of hair may be donated to Locks of Love, but that hair will be sold to help pay overhead costs for the organization. Hair shorter than 6 inches long will not be accepted.
