WVU hosts forum on future of research universities

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. -- West Virginia University is hosting one of nine forums around the country aimed at gathering input for the National Research Council on how to keep America's universities globally competitive. The event is Friday afternoon at the Museum Education Center on the Evansdale campus.President Jim Clements says the forum gives the WVU community a chance to help guide the future of higher education.
Last year, the council issued a report with 10 recommendations for America's research universities. After a presentation on that report, participants will hear from retired MIT President Charles Vest, former University of Kentucky President Lee Todd and the council's Peter Henderson.Similar forums are being held or have been held at Carnegie Mellon and Vanderbilt universities, and the universities of Arizona, Michigan and Pittsburgh.
