Police say no charges in Charleston bomb scare

CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- Police say no charges will be filed against a homeless man whose abandoned backpack created a bomb scare outside the Charleston Marriott on Tuesday.Detectives identified and interviewed the man, who said he left all his personal belongings inside the backpack for safekeeping, Charleston Police Sgt. Eric Hodges said in a news release Friday.The man tried to hide the backpack because he planned to return later for it. He was surprised to return and see police using a bomb disposal robot to examine the backpack, Hodges said. 
Hotel staff called police after finding a Tupperware container containing screws and nails in the top of the backpack.No crime was committed. Hodges said, so the man's name would not be released.
