Open house

Charleston Montessori School will host an open house for interested families from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at its location, 805 Price St. Primary and elementary classrooms will be open for tours and faculty; staff and board members will be present. Yard sale/bake sale

American Heritage Girls WV1816 is hosting a yard sale and bake sale from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at Glad Tidings annex building, beside Fruth Pharmacy in Hurricane. All proceeds will go to their annual HUGS duffel bags for foster care program. This year the bags will go to Children's Home Society of West Virginia. Community festival

Tyler Mountain Community Festival will take place from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at McKinnon Presbyterian Church, 4278 Washington St. W., Tyler Mountain. A community yard sale, arts and crafts fair featuring handmade pottery, jewelry and decorative items by local artisans; $1 hot dogs and baked goods will be featured. Local band The Carpenter Ants will perform between 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. For more information, call 304-744-2815 and leave a message.

Food bank open house

Mountaineer Food Bank, in Gassaway, will hold its annual open house May 9 at 1 p.m. Volunteers and friends of the food bank are invited to attend. A volunteer recognition ceremony will take place, along with warehouse tours, guest speakers and refreshments. For more information, call 304-364-5518.
