Huntington to host Rosie the Riveters

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. -- A West Virginia community is honoring women who kept American industry strong while men were off fighting World War II.A documentary film, "We Pull Together: Rosie the Riveters, Then and Now," will be shown in Huntington at 2:30 p.m. May 22 at the Pullman Plaza Hotel on Third Avenue. Afterward guests may meet surviving Rosies and hear their stories.
Rosies, who are now in their 90s, made a major impact in breaking down sexual discrimination in hiring, proving they were able to do "men's work."A dinner with the Rosies will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the hotel for $26 per attendant. Blenko Glass is to unveil a new piece depicting Rosies during wartime.
