Unity of Kanawha Valley will have its Karaoke Night at 7 p.m. Friday at 804 Myrtle Road, corner of Bridge and Myrtle roads. Singing, dancing and food will be featured. Various coffees, teas, soft drinks and homemade treats are available at a small donation cost. General admission is $2. Loudendale Church of the Nazarene will have a benefit spaghetti dinner and desserts for Jimmy Shaffer beginning at 3 p.m. Saturday at the church. Shaffer, 49, is in a hospital in Philadelphia, receiving treatment for stomach cancer. Proceeds will help the family with medical and other expenses. Donations can also be sent to Loudendale Church of the Nazarene, 708 Cane Fork Road, Loudendale, WV 25314.
Blessing of Bikes
Beard Mortuary will sponsor the third annual Blessing of the Bikes event at noon Saturday at the mortuary, 3001 Third Ave., Huntington. Proceeds will benefit the Huntington City Mission's Project Hope, which provides services for homeless families with children. There is no charge to attend; however, donations will be accepted. Food, prizes, free ride bells for all motorcyclists will be featured. A blessing by Chaplain Chadd<co > Hatfield to start the riding season and an escorted motorcycle ride around Huntington will be held. Nonriders are welcome to attend. Taste of Putnam
The third annual Taste of Putnam will be held from noon to 5 p.m. Sunday at Valley Park in Hurricane. Twelve Putnam restaurants are offering samples of their best entrees and desserts. Entrees vary in cost from one to six tickets. The tickets are 50 cents each and are sold at the entrance. The food tents serve continuously rain or shine.
