Capitol Woman's ClubCapitol Woman's Club will have its meeting/dinner at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Woman's Club of Charleston clubhouse on Virginia Street East. Speaker will be Naomi Bays, public arts chairwoman for FestivALL and chairwoman of the Arts Council of Kanawha Valley. Also, the birthday of Patsy Hume, first club president of the Capitol Woman's Club, will be celebrated from 4:30 to 5 p.m. Tuesday at Charleston Gardens, Northgate. Club members will also gather in June and July to paint a pier along Kanawha Boulevard under the Interstate 64 bridge. Library staff trainingThe South Charleston Public Library will be closed Friday for staff training and Saturday through Monday for the Memorial Day holiday. The library will reopen May 28 with regular hours, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.Summer campGifted children from across the state and the country can get a taste of college life in the Wesleyan Summer Gifted Program's summer camp, June 16-29 on the campus of West Virginia Wesleyan College. Students in grades five through 12 are eligible. The program offers advanced classes in astronomy, physics, higher math, literature, creative writing, computer programming and history. Students will live in the dormitory, eat meals and attend classes on campus, and will be supervised by college-age counselors who will serve as guides and mentors. Applications will be accepted up until the first day of camp. Pre-registration is recommended, and a $200 deposit is required.
