Ex-Alderson town worker sentenced for embezzling
UNION, W.Va. -- A former Alderson employee will spend at least a year in prison for embezzling money from the town.
Media outlets report that Jacalyn Villars received a one-to-10 year sentence from Monroe County Circuit Court Judge Robert Irons.
Villars entered a Kennedy plea in March to embezzling more than $1,000 from the town. Under the Kennedy rule, a defendant doesn't admit guilt.
She was sentenced Monday.
Monroe County prosecutor Justin St. Clair says Villars has repaid some of the money.
