The cabin was built in 1846 and was moved to this location in 1972 when the John Amos Power Plant was built. It contains vintage kitchen items from when it was used as a plantation kitchen. The open house is free. Open house is held each Sunday through Labor Day.APPALACHIAN CHILDREN'S CHORUS AUDITIONS: 10 a.m., Cross of Grace Church in Hurricane. Girls and boys (with unchanged voices) are encouraged to audition. Participants are not required to have a prepared song selection, although they may if they wish. No previous singing experience is necessary. There is a significant annual fee for participation. Partial financial aid is offered for qualifying students, with applications due by Aug. 31. Auditions are also scheduled for 3 p.m. Monday at the University of Charleston's Keenan Hall.
