Local radio host Agnello arrested for 4th time in 4 years

CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- A local radio talk show host has been arrested for drunken driving, his fourth arrest in the last four years.Michael Agnello, 61, was arrested early Sunday morning in Charleston after a traffic stop, according to a criminal complaint filed in Kanawha County Magistrate Court.Agnello, a former pastor, hosts "58 Live" on weeknights on WCHS radio. After Sunday's arrest he has been taken off the air, according to WCHS's website.Agnello's blood alcohol level was 0.194, more than twice the legal limit, according to the complaint.WCHS says Agnello has been suspended without pay, pending the outcome of the investigation.According to the complaint, Agnello touched the centerline on Summers Street and was driving in a "bus only lane" on Quarrier Street.M.Z. Blackledge, with the Charleston Police Department, wrote Agnello told him he had consumed "a few" alcohol beverages.
In July 2009, Agnello was arrested and charged with aggravated DUI after being pulled over for driving erratically. He pleaded guilty to that charge and was fined $100 plus court costs.In June 2010, Agnello was arrested and charged with domestic battery after his then-girlfriend told police that he grabbed her by the arms and threw her to the floor several times.Those charges were dropped.In August 2010, Agnello was arrested in Nitro for driving on a suspended license.Agnello was fired after the string of arrests, but returned to the air in July 2011."We believe in second chances," Mike Buxser, WCHS' general manager said on the station's website. "However, this latest arrest is a serious matter and we will take appropriate action when all the facts are in."In 2011, when Agnello was put back on the air, Buxser said that he had "made significant lifestyle changes. I look forward to having Mike's fiery personality back on the air on '58 Live.' He has earned a second chance."Agnello was taken to South Central Regional Jail and released on bail.
