Man injured in I-64 concrete truck accident
INSTITUTE, W.Va. -- Paramedics took one man to the hospital after a concrete truck overturned on Interstate 64 early Saturday.
The truck caught fire as it spilled 10 cubic yards of concrete onto the eastbound lanes near Institute. The driver was taken to a nearby hospital in unknown condition, Cpl. Brian Humphreys of the Kanawha County Sheriff's Department said in a news release. The accident occurred at 3:30 a.m. near the Institute exit and entrance ramps. Police diverted traffic off the interstate and onto secondary roads connecting Cross Lanes and Dunbar. State Department of Highways crews removed the truck with a crane and cleaned up the spilled concrete. The eastbound lanes reopened just after 10:30 a.m.
