Indiana woman injured in Gorge biking accident

FAYETTEVILLE, W.Va. -- An Indiana woman injured Sunday when she struck a tree in a mountain biking accident in the New River Gorge was being treated for upper back and neck injuries in a Charleston hospital after being evacuated from the Arrowhead Trail System in Fayette County on a wheeled litter.

After receiving treatment at the scene of the accident from National Park Service rangers and Jan Care Ambulance and Fayetteville Fire Department personnel, the 46-year-old woman carried about one mile to an access road, and then taken to a landing zone where a HealthNet helicopter transferred her to Charleston.

Other details of the accident were not immediately available.
