CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- Another West Virginia legislator is moving to the executive branch, this time at the state's treasurer's office. Treasurer John Perdue announced Monday that Delegate Josh Stowers will become his deputy on July 15. Stowers is a Democrat representing Lincoln County. He'll be resigning both from the House of Delegates and the Kanawha County school system. Stowers has been an assistant principal at Horace Mann Middle School. Perdue said Stowers will eventually succeed Assistant Treasurer Danny Ellis. A longtime public official, Ellis plans to retire Dec. 31.Stowers helped the House elect a new speaker last month after Rick Thompson stepped down to become secretary of the Department of Veterans' Assistance. A special committee will recommend names to Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin, who will appoint a new delegate for Stowers' district.
