Kanawha Valley Chapter of Daughters of the American Revolution will have its Western District meeting at 10 a.m. July 20 at Berry Hills Country Club, 1 Berry Hills Road. Black Business Association Supporting Entrepreneurs will host its next free, open-forum networking and membership event at 5:30 p.m. today<co Thursday> at the West Virginia State University Economic Development Center, 1506 Kanawha Blvd. W. The Rev. Matthew J. Watts, president and CEO of Hope Community Development Corp., will speak. Topics include the recent talks with the state of West Virginia on minority businesses' set-aside contracts and hearing the Rev. Watts' take on the recent Tri-State Minority Supplier Development Council meeting. Mountaineer Montessori School, 308 20th St., will offer a "Summer Fun Camp with Nancy and Sophia," for children ages 6-12 daily, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., through July 26. Activities include storytelling, swimming at the University of Charleston, bike riding, cooking classes, natural arts and crafts, and Fridays in the Kanawha State Forest. Leaders are Nancy Johnston, an MMS physical education and art instructor with more than 16 years of experience, and MMS alumna Sophia Kaufman, a certified lifeguard and former counselor at Camp Glenburn in New Brunswick, Canada.
