Patrick Street Bridge reopened after brief closure

Inspectors with the West Virginia Division of Highways check out a metal sidewalk support beam underneath the Patrick Street Bridge in Charleston after a tractor-trailer backed into the structure Tuesday morning.

CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- The Patrick Street Bridge was briefly closed this morning after a tractor-trailer hit a sidewalk support beam under the bridge.

The incident occurred just after 11 a.m., a Kanawha County Metro 911 dispatcher said.

The bridge was closed while inspectors assessed the damage, and it was reopened around 11:30 a.m.
