West Side group to hold business expo
CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- Huntington Banks will sponsor the annual Business After Hours and Expo Thursday, August 8, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Charleston-Kanawha Housing Authority.
The event will showcase the economic community on Charleston's West Side, featuring department stores, supply stores, restaurants, banks and more, according to a news release.
Stephanie Johnson, executive director of West Side Main Street, a community revitalization program of West Virginia State University and the City of Charleston, said in the release, "The expo is a fantastic way to learn about the diverse range of businesses and nonprofit organizations on the West Side."
Last year, nearly 20 businesses attended, and Johnson said she expects a larger turnout this year.
"The expo is another great opportunity to highlight the resurgent West Side business community," said Bill Woodrum, associate dean and director of WVSU Extension Service and a WSMS board member in the press release. The Charleston-Kanawha Housing Authority is located at 1525 Washington St. W. There is a $5 fee to attend the expo, which includes food and beverages. Parking is available between 7th Street and Horns Avenue.
