Prosecutor to hold football camp

CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- Kanawha County Prosecutor Mark Plants will hold a football camp from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Saturday<co July 20> at Oakes Field in South Charleston. The "Law and Ball" football camp is meant to allow children to form relationships with law enforcement officials, Plants said.Ninety percent of the clinic will be focused on football, Plants said.
"But there will be one station where we'll tell kids exactly what law enforcement officers do and what prosecutors do," he said. "Oftentimes, especially in high crime areas, kids are taught that police are the bad guys and not to cooperate. If people aren't cooperating with law enforcement, crimes aren't going to get solved."Quincy Wilson, Grant Wiley and other former West Virginia University football players will be in attendance. Participants will be given a free t-shirt. Plants played football at WVU in the 1990s under former head coach Don Nehlen.
