WVU Foundation tops fiscal year fundraising goal

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. -- Donors gave more than $99 million in cash and in-kind gifts to the West Virginia University Foundation during the 2013 fiscal year, exceeding the foundation's goal by $19 million.More than 35,000 contributions ranging from health sciences to athletics were given by 20,920 donors, the foundation said in a news release. The donations included an in-kind software gift worth nearly $15 million from Landmark to the Eberly College of Arts and Sciences.
The 2013 fiscal year ended June 30."When you think about the instability of the economy over the past few years, it truly is remarkable that we continue to see private giving at these levels," said Wayne King, the foundation's president and chief executive officer. "It speaks volumes to the many good things happening at WVU, and the passion and loyalty of our alumni and friends. We are very grateful to our donors."The University Fund, which is the foundation's annual giving program, recorded $21.1 million, $200,000 less than the record $21.3 million during the previous fiscal year.
