Charge dismissed in Elkins neglect case

ELKINS, W.Va. -- A neglect charge against an Elkins man accused of forcing his young children to smoke marijuana has been dismissed.Randolph County prosecutor Michael Parker tells The Inter-Mountain that urinalysis tests performed on the children were negative.Parker says authorities are awaiting the results of hair tests and the investigation is continuing.
The charge against 28-year-old Timothy Wayne Hedrick was dismissed without prejudice. That means it could be filed again.
Hedrick had been charged with child neglect creating risk of injury.Police say Hedrick's 6-year-old son and 4-year-old daughter told a state Child Protective Services worker that their father forced them to smoke marijuana. The worker notified the Randolph County Sheriff's Department.
