Former Charleston police officer pleads guilty to meth charge

CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- David Reedy, a former Charleston police officer, pleaded guilty Monday to possession with intent to deliver methamphetamine.Because of the plea, prosecutors dropped a conspiracy to deliver methamphetamine charge and three other misdemeanors.
He faces one to 5 years and will be sentenced Oct. 1 by Kanawha Circuit Judge Jennifer Bailey.In September 2012, Reedy, then 40, was arrested and charged after he allegedly sold methamphetamine in the parking lot of the Walmart at Nitro Marketplace, according to a criminal complaint. Reedy, of Nitro, left his job with the Charleston Police Department's patrol division in 2003.
