CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- A Charleston woman stabbed the father of her children and his new girlfriend early Wednesday, and now faces a charge of attempted murder.Kerry Harvey, 42, went to the 900 block of Rugby Street shortly after 1 a.m. to confront her ex, Gary Turpin, 57, according to Sgt. Tony Hazelett of the Charleston Police Department.Harvey was upset because Turpin had their children, ages 13 and 9, with his new girlfriend, Alice Early, 49, Hazelett said. "She went to the residence and confronted both of them about the situation," he said.After the confrontation near the home's front door, Harvey allegedly stabbed Turpin in the chest and Early in the lower back. She then took the children and left the residence, Hazelett said.
Turpin was in serious but stable condition at CAMC General Hospital on Wednesday, and his injuries were not life-threatening, Hazelett said. Early was in stable condition at the hospital, he said.Police found Harvey and the children shortly after the incident, Hazelett said. After a Child Protective Services investigation, the children were placed with another family member, he said.Harvey faces a charge of attempted murder for the alleged stabbing of Turpin, and a charge of malicious wounding for Early's alleged stabbing. She was in South Central Regional Jail on Wednesday.
