W.Va. groups plan vigil to oppose Syria strike

CHARLESTON, W.Va. - West Virginia peace activists are planning a vigil to oppose any U.S. military strike in Syria. The event is set for Sunday at 4 p.m. at Haddad Riverfront Park in Charleston. It's being led by West Virginia Patriots for Peace and West Virginia Citizen Action.
President Barack Obama announced Saturday that he will seek congressional approval for military action intended to punish Syria for its alleged use of chemical weapons in an attack that killed hundreds. The organizations sponsoring the Charleston vigil say their message to Congress is "No more interventions in foreign civil wars." They say that while violence in Syria is a major concern to the United States and its allies, there's no quick military fix.
