Stabbing incident lands one in jail

CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- A Charleston man was charged with malicious wounding Sunday following a stabbing incident on the city's West Side.Sgt. Tony Hazelett of the Charleston Police Department said Thomas Lewis, 75, and Richard Brannon, 55, were drinking together at a home in the 1500 block of Red Oak Street at about 6:30 p.m. Sunday when Lewis allegedly made a disparaging remark about Brannon's family. Brannon allegedly then stabbed Lewis and hit him over the head with the pommel of a military-style fighting knife.Lewis was taken to CAMC General Hospital. His condition was not available this morning.Brannon was charged with malicious wounding, a felony. He was being held without bail this morning at the South Central Regional Jail.
