FBI: Hurricane bank robber has hit 5 states

HURRICANE, W.Va. -- Federal agents said a man who robbed a Hurricane bank in July is connected to a dozen similar robberies in Illinois, Maryland, Missouri and Tennessee.The suspect allegedly walked into Huntington National Bank in Hurricane and handed the teller a note demanding money on July 30. He got away with an undisclosed amount of money.Federal Bureau of Investigations agents believe the same suspect began robbing banks along Interstate 55 in Illinois in May. They dubbed him the "I-55 Bandit," according to an FBI news release.
The suspect has since been connected to 10 successful bank robberies and three attempted bank robberies in five states. In each case, the suspect handed a teller a note demanding money and implied that he was armed, according to the news release. No one has been injured.The suspect is described as thin and about 6 feet tall. He is in his early to mid-20s and has brown or strawberry blond hair.The FBI is sponsoring digital billboards in affected states seeking the suspect's identity. Anyone with information is asked to call 800-CALL-FBI.
