Mental evaluation ordered for alleged killer

CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- A Rand man facing a murder charge will undergo a psychological evaluation before standing trial, according to prosecutors.Tremale Leon Straughter, 29, is charged with first-degree murder in the February shooting death of Harold Donovan Taylor Jr., 29.Straughter's attorney, Ed ReBrook, asked Kanawha Circuit Judge Jennifer Bailey on Thursday during a pretrial hearing to allow his client to undergo the evaluation before his trial. Bailey approved the evaluation be conducted and rescheduled the trial for Nov. 18.Witnesses told police they watched Straughter shoot Taylor multiple times with different types of guns following an argument, according to a criminal complaint filed in Kanawha County Magistrate Court.Straughter then allegedly got into his car, circled the block and came back to shoot more rounds at Taylor, who was apparently dead inside his own car.
