Help the homelessKanawha County Public Library will present "Without a Home: What You Can Do to Help People Who are Homeless in Your Community" at several library branches. Join panelists from Covenant House and other community organizations for a discussion about homelessness and ways to help with the problem in the community. Other participating organizations include Manna Meal, West Virginia Coalition Against Domestic Violence, YWCA, Roark-Sullivan Lifeway Center, West Virginia Office of Economic Opportunity and Religious Coalition for Community Renewal. Bring a donation of toiletry items to be distributed to area shelters. Participating libraries are: Main Library, Capitol Street, 12:10 p.m. Wednesday (bring lunch); St. Albans Branch Library, 6 p.m. Sept. 30; and Elk Valley Branch Library, 6 p.m. Oct. 3.Rubber stamp clubRubberifics Rubber Stamping Club will meet from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at the South Charleston Public Library. Kanawha City associationKanawha City Community Association will hold its annual community meeting and election of board members at 7 p.m. Thursday at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 5502 Noyes Ave. There will be a presentation by GAI Consultants of plans for MacCorkle Avenue as well as information about Charleston Area Medical Center's new cancer center and other agenda topics will be discussed. Light refreshments will be served.Independent Living CouncilWest Virginia Statewide Independent Living Council will meet from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Oct. 2 in the third-floor conference room at the Division of Rehabilitation Services, 10 McJunkin Road, Nitro. Coffee will be provided; you may bring your own food and/or drinks to the meeting. All materials submitted to the SILC office to be distributed to members must be in accessible formats.
