YWCA Charleston takes part in domestic violence campaign

CHARLESTON, W.Va.-- The YWCA Charleston has been selected by a national foundation to raise awareness about domestic violence this October.The Allstate Foundation chose YWCA Charleston to take part in the "Purple Purse," a campaign in honor of Domestic Violence Awareness Month.
YWCA Charleston received 10 purple purses to pass along to community members, family and friends in hopes of starting conversations that can help survivors of domestic violence. Each time a purse is passed along and checked in at, YWCA Charleston will receive a $5 donation.If YWCA exceeds $1,000 in donations, the Allstate Foundation would award a $10,000 grant, according to a news release.
