NATRIUM, W.Va. -- A fire at a natural gas processing plant in West Virginia's Northern Panhandle remains under investigation.The fire occurred around 1:30 a.m. Saturday at the Blue Racer Midstream plant in Natrium. It was confined to a small area of the plant and allowed to burn itself out. No one was injured.
Dominion Resources spokesman Jim Norvelle told The Intelligencer and Wheeling News Register that crews from the company and the plant began investigating the fire Monday.The plant is part of a joint venture between Richmond, Va.-based Dominion and Caiman Energy II.
Department of Environmental Protection spokeswoman Kathy Cosco said the state agency has asked Dominion to provide samples of water used to fight the fire. The samples will be checked for possible contamination.
