Son of state trooper killed in car accident
CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- The son of a West Virginia State Police trooper was killed Thursday in an accident in Roane County.
Steven Mark Mullen II, 20, of Spencer, was heading north on U.S. 119 near Gandeeville at about 9:15 p.m. when he ran off the road, hit a rock and lost control of his vehicle, according to West Virginia State Police spokesman Sgt. Michael Baylous. Mullen is the son of Cpl. Steven Mullen of the Spencer detachment of the West Virginia State Police.
Baylous said the vehicle rolled several times, and the younger Mullen was thrown from the vehicle. He was taken to CAMC General Hospital, where he died of his injuries.
"The thoughts and prayers of the West Virginia State Police remain with Cpl. Mullen and his family as they deal with this tragic loss of life," Baylous said.Reach Rusty Marks at firstname.lastname@example.org or 304-348-1215.
