Fairdale man sentenced in fatal shooting
BECKLEY, W.Va. - A Fairdale man convicted of fatally shooting another man will spend 15 years in prison.
Charles William Young had entered a Kennedy plea to voluntary manslaughter in July. Under the Kennedy rule, a defendant doesn't admit guilt.
Media outlets report that Raleigh County Circuit Court Judge John Hutchison gave the 41-year-old Young the maximum sentence on Friday.
Young was charged with killing 66-year-old Frank Acord. Acord's body was found March 3, 2012, near an abandoned coal mine. Raleigh County prosecutor Kristen Keller says Acord was shot three times in the head.
