CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- Kanawha County sheriff's deputies are seeking the identity of two men who allegedly helped a Marmet woman accused of murder.Kelsey Marie Legg, 20, turned herself in to deputies on Saturday in connection to the slaying of Kareem Howell Hunter, 28, of Charleston.Legg's brother told deputies that his sister lured Hunter to her apartment along 83rd Street in Marmet on Sept. 23 to have him kidnapped, according to a criminal complaint filed in Kanawha County Magistrate Court.Legg's brother said he heard a disturbance inside her apartment and later saw two men remove a body and place it in the trunk of a car, according to the complaint.Acting on the tip, police went to Legg's apartment last week where they found large pools of blood and other evidence of a violent crime, said Kanawha County sheriff's Cpl. Brian Humphreys.
Legg was charged with first-degree murder and was being held without bail in South Central Regional Jail. Hunter's body has not been found, Humphreys said.It appears Legg tried to cover up the alleged crime by repainting walls and replacing carpet inside her apartment, Humphreys said.Security cameras at Lowe's in Kanawha City captured Legg and two unidentified men buying buckets of paint on Sept. 24. Legg and another man were seen buying carpet at the store the next day, Humphreys said.Anyone with information about the two men's identities are asked to call the Kanawha County Sheriff's Department at 304-357-0169.Humphreys could not say whether Legg is cooperating with detectives for fear of harming the investigation. Detectives worked on the case over the weekend and are making strides, he said.Reach Travis Crum at firstname.lastname@example.org or 304-348-5163.
