Deputies identify one of two men seen with slaying suspect
CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- Kanawha County sheriff's deputies have identified one of two men spotted helping a Marmet woman accused of murder.
Deputies have not released the man's name, but do not believe he had a direct role in the slaying of Kareem Howell Hunter, 28, of Charleston, Cpl. Brian Humphreys said on Tuesday.
Kelsey Marie Legg, 20, was charged with first-degree murder in Hunter's slaying last week. Legg's brother told deputies that he saw two men carrying a body from Legg's apartment after a disturbance there on Sept. 23. Legg had lured Hunter there with the intention of having him kidnapped, her brother told deputies.
Security cameras at Lowe's in Kanawha City captured Legg and two men buying paint and carpet to allegedly cover up the crime. Hunter's body has not been found.
Deputies interviewed one man seen on the security cameras and are working to determine his level of involvement in the crime, Humphreys said. His name has not been released. The man acknowledges he helped Legg with "remodeling work" after the slaying.
The investigation is ongoing and deputies are still seeking the identity of the second man seen with Legg, who remains in South Central Regional Jail where she is being held without bail.
