Civitan club meets todayThe Charleston Civitan Club will meet at noon Oct. 18 at the Charleston Civic Center. Ric Cavender, executive director of East End Main Street, will be the speaker.Australia program on tapThe International Club of Charleston will meet at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 18 at Trinity Lutheran Church for a potluck dinner, followed by a program on Australia presented by Ronald Hicks, a native of that country.Karaoke Night scheduledUnity of Kanawha Valley will host a Karaoke Night at 7 p.m. today at 804 Myrtle Road, Charleston. Everyone is welcome to come and share his or her talents in a warm, friendly and enthusiastic atmosphere. There is always lots of singing, dancing, and food to share. Volunteers will help clean up Trace Fork in South Charleston's Little Creek Park at 9 a.m. Oct 19. Meet at Lions Field (first field inside the park). Bring clothes to hike in for trail pickup, and to get wet, if you are willing to get into the creek. Call 304-993-3625 for information.Hot dog/bake sale to benefit 4-HA hot dog and bake sale to benefit 4-H will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Tractor Supply Co. store in Belle.Woman's Club sale slatedThe Woman's Club of Charleston will hold its semi-annual sale from 4 to 7 p.m. Oct. 23 and from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 24 at the clubhouse at 1600 Virginia St. E. Items will include books, clothes, collectibles, flea market items, linens, jewelry and baked goods. Meals will be available both days, either eat-in or take out.Beta Sigma Phi meetsPreceptor Alpha Chapter, Beta Sigma Phi International Sorority, will meet at 6:45 p.m. Oct. 21 for the board meeting and at 7 p.m. for the business meeting at Canaan United Methodist Church, 401 Roane St., Charleston. President Charlotte Bowling will conduct the business meeting. Suzanne Haynes will be hostess and present the program. Refreshments will be served after the business meeting. Service will be tabs for the Ronald McDonald House, containers for Manna Meal and magazines for the VA.
