Friends of missing man plan Sunday march

MARMET, W.Va. -- Family and friends are organizing a march in Marmet on Sunday to remind people that Kareem Hunter is still missing.Police have charged Kelsey Marie Legg, 20, of Marmet, with first-degree murder in Hunter's death.Legg is accused of luring Hunter, 28, to her apartment Sept. 23 in an attempt to kidnap him. Legg's brother told Kanawha sheriff's deputies that he heard a disturbance at his sister's apartment, and then saw two men carrying a body to load into the trunk of a car.Hunter's body has not been found, but deputies are investigating his disappearance as a homicide because of large amounts of blood reportedly found inside Legg's apartment.Chasidy Wickline, Hunter's girlfriend of six years, said for several weeks after his disappearance that she wouldn't believe he was dead until a body was found.
She said Thursday, however, that she believes he would have contacted someone by now if alive.Still, Wickline said, "We can't rest and be at peace until Reem is at peace, and he's basically been thrown away like garbage."The march is set to begin at 5 p.m. at City Hall in Marmet. Police will block off the road, according to Wickline, who said at least 100 people have said they'll attend."We want to keep this story alive and hopefully since [Marmet] was the last place he was seen alive, someone will be encouraged to come forward who saw something," she said.Police searched for Kareem Hunter for about a week before Legg's brother led them to her apartment. Deputies said they discovered a large amount of blood there, which Legg apparently tried to cover up with paint and carpet, according to the criminal complaint filed in the case.Legg was spotted buying supplies at Lowe's in Kanawha City with two men in the days following the alleged disturbance at her apartment. Deputies have spoken with one of those men, but do not believe he was involved in the alleged slaying. The unidentified man admitted to helping Legg remodel her apartment. He has not been charged with a crime. Legg remains in the South Central Regional Jail without bail and police are still searching for the other man seen with Legg at Lowe's.
