Union gives strike notice to Cabell Huntington
HUNTINGTON, W.Va. -- A union representing 800 workers has notified Cabell Huntington Hospital that a strike is possible if the two sides can't agree on a new contract.
Hospital spokesman Charles Shumaker says in a news release that the hospital received a 10-day strike notice from Service Employees International Union District 1199 on Monday.
Shumaker says the hospital plans to resume contract negotiations next week.
The union represents licensed practical nurses, lab workers, and service and maintenance personnel. They rejected the hospital's contract proposal on Saturday. Contract issues include health insurance benefits and wages.
