Democratic committeeBecause of the upcoming holiday season, the Kanawha County Democratic Executive Committee will not meet again until 6 p.m. Feb. 11 in the courtroom of Judge Charlie King on the fourth floor of the Judicial Annex building.Capito mobile officesRep. Shelley Moore Capito, R-W.Va., will hold mobile offices in Charleston, Paw Paw, Ripley and Weston this week. At the mobile office locations, Capito's staff will be available to help 2nd District residents who are having problems with federal agencies and programs. Those attending are requested to bring documents they have received from federal agencies related to their issues. The schedule is: 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, Lewis County Senior Center, 171 W. Second St., Weston; 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Thursday, Ripley Senior Center, 121 Court St. S., Ripley; 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, Paw Paw Senior Center, 783 Winchester St., Paw Paw; and 10:30 a.m. to noon Friday, Charleston Area Nutrition Site, Tiskelwah Center, 600 Florida St.
Lecture seriesGreenbrier Historical Society will present Elizabeth Spangler as its next Fall Lecture Series speaker at 6 p.m. Thursday at the North House, 301 W. Washington St., Lewisburg. Spangler will present "A Place Called Solid: The Life and Work of Louise McNeill." Louise McNeill Pease was West Virginia's poet laureate from 1979 to 1993. Spangler, a native of Lewisburg, is a software engineer with IBM Corp.Open stageUnity of Kanawha Valley will be home to its monthly Open Stage and Coffee House, with host Ron Sowell, at 7:30 p.m. Friday at 804 Myrtle Road. Musicians are welcome to come and share their talents in a friendly and enthusiastic atmosphere. Performers sign up at 7 p.m. General admission is $5; admission for performers, seniors and children is $2.
