Argus Energy to close 2 coal mines in Wayne County
CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- Argus Energy plans to close two coal mines and a shipping operation in Wayne County in December.
Warning Adjustment and Retraining Notifications filed with the state show that the company's Mine No. 7 and Mine No. 8 in Dunlow are expected to close Dec. 27, along with the Wayne County River Terminal office in Kenova. The operations employ a total 177 workers.
Kiah Creek Transport in Dunlow and Kenova also is expected to be closed Dec. 27. It employs 59 workers.
Argus Energy filed the notices, known as WARNs, with the state Department of Commerce on Oct. 25.
