Town Center all decked out for Santa's arrival
CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- More than 42 miles of copper wire. More than 100,000 LED lights. And one jolly old elf.
Santa arrives at the Charleston Town Center Mall on Wednesday.
Prior to Santa's 5:30 p.m. arrival in the mall's Center Court, the first 100 children who line up for a chance to sit on Santa's knee will receive a stocking that includes a Hallmark Rudolph ornament.
Characters from the animated classic "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer!" will also join Santa this year, along with a chorus of elves.
Also this season, as the Town Center celebrates its 30th anniversary, chimes will ring at Center Court at the top of every hour for nearly two minutes. Then, daily at 5 and 8 p.m. throughout the holidays, a six-minute music and light show will take place in Center Court.
On Wednesday, the characters from Rudolph will hold a meet-and-greet with kids from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Macy's Court, and the first indoor snowfall of the season will take place in Sears Court. Parents are encouraged to bring cameras.
