PARKERSBURG, W.Va. -- Hunters killed more than two dozen deer during a special hunt on Blennerhassett Island.Fifty-two hunters participated in Tuesday's hunt and killed 27 deer. The Division of Natural Resources holds the hunt to control the Ohio River island's deer population and increase the herd's health.Another hunt is scheduled today. Hunters have to obtain a special permit from the DNR to participate. Permits are awarded through a random drawing. Blennerhassett Island assistant park superintendent Miles Evenson said hunters he talked to enjoyed being on the island, even if they didn't kill a deer.
